Create baseline

Write a baseline file for a selection (SR-050, ADR-0018): name, date, the HEAD commit of every repository involved, ID and version of every element. Refused while files of the selection are not committed. Never commits, never replaces a baseline.

Command baseline.create. Writes files in the working tree, never to Git. It is refused while the workspace is read-only. Stores the current versions of the selection, which depend on the metamodel (which properties count).

Field Type Required Description
name name yes Name of a baseline (SR-050), unique in the workspace ignoring case and Unicode normal form. The file name is the name made portable, as attachment names (ADR-0004); a taken file name gets -2, -3, ….
selection selection yes Stored in the file: a saved filter as its where and view, package and view with their title. Not baseline.
Field Type Required Description
files array of string yes
baseline object yes
baseline.name string yes
baseline.file string yes The file, relative to the workspace root, / as separator.
baseline.repository string yes The repository that holds the file; repository in the file is relative to it.
baseline.date dateTime yes A date and time with time zone (RFC 3339 date-time), for example 2026-10-26T09:30:00Z.
baseline.elements integer yes Number of elements in the file.
problems array of problem no
incomplete incomplete no A repository is not here, so the view may miss a replacement or exclusion stored there (SR-006); the file is written all the same, with a warning.

In the command prompt (Ctrl+Shift+P, macOS ⌘⇧P): the command Create baseline.

reqseq baseline create, with --json for the output as JSON. Its help:

POST /v1/commands/baseline.create on the local API (reqseq serve api), with the input as the JSON body; the answer is the output.

Tool baseline_create of the MCP server (reqseq mcp), with the input as its arguments.
